Approved by Karagöz and Hacivat
Karagöz and Hacivat are famous Turkish shadow puppets and, as far as I can tell, the unofficial ambassadors of Bursa. Loved by all, these two entertaining characters are found everywhere in Bursa–in shops, on billboards, in books, on posters, even inlaid in tile patterns. Bursa has a nicely curated Karagöz Museum and is home to some of Turkey’s most famous master shadow puppeteers. The highly acclaimed Karagöz International Shadow Puppet Theater Festival is biennially hosted in Bursa.

Hüsnü Züber Evi, the House of Ottoman Antiquities
Built in the 19th century, Hüsnü Züber Evi is an Ottoman style home. It was used as a state guesthouse in 1836 and later as the Russian consulate. From 1877-1988, it was converted into a private residence and purchased by a man named Hüsnü Züber. After undergoing significant restoration, it was donated to the local municipality as a living museum.
Mercure Hotel Bursa: Luxury with a View
My stay at the Mercure Hotel was highly enjoyable. I took advantage of many of their luxurious amenities including the workout facility, thermal pool, rooftop bar, room service and the breakfast buffet. They offered excellent services and selections with variety, even down to a menu of different pillow options.
