If you’re looking for a comfortable but reasonably priced hotel in downtown Bursa, B Loft Hotel is a great option!
My experience with the hotel began before I even made it to the door…walking down the quaint shop-lined Cumhuriyet Avenue. The vibrant colors and bright chime of the tram added to the charm…I was in the heart of the city.
The pleasant experience continued as I checked in at the front desk. To my surprise, the desk clerk spoke proficient English. I later witnessed his interactions with different guests from various countries and was pleased to see him offering honest assistance above and beyond what might be considered standard.
The hotel was lovely with its marble stairways, chrome and glass elevators, modern furniture…classy. Upon entering my room, I’m sad to say, I was a bit disappointed that the exterior class did not continue into the room. When it comes to hotel rooms, I am what westerners might call “a clean freak.” So loose dirt on the floors, hair in the toilet, and used napkins under the table did not win points with me. The room door was open (I assume for airing out) but it meant the room was quite cold when I first arrived. It was nicely stocked with two of each basic amenity, but the towels were worn and had holes.
In the rooms, information was lacking. There was no published material about when breakfast was served, what things could be found in the surrounding community, how to use the television, or a sign for “Do Not Disturb.”
With the hotel being located in the midst of the city, certain realities follow: the window views are of the buildings next door, the sounds of the street and tram continue late into the night, and the morning call to prayer is quite prominent from the several surrounding mosques.
Breakfast the next morning was a quiet and enjoyable experience. Though the dining room was located in the basement, the hotel had designed the room nicely to include artistic lighting. With no natural light, it was a bit dim for my liking, but some might consider it cozy. The breakfast buffet itself was excellent, including a fresh assortment of all the normal (and delicious!) Turkish breakfast foods. My favorite item was the saffron potatoes. My compliments to the chef!
Overall, I can recommend B Loft Hotel as an agreeable option for an economic and convenient place to stay downtown. My advice to the hotel: The little things matter when it comes to your guests’ comfort.
