Orhangazi Castle | The Best of Bursa

Don’t miss a stop on our four-part day adventuring through Orhangazi!

Our fourth and final stop in our tour of Orhangazi was the Orhangazi Castle Social Facilities.

The castle is one of the first sites that greet you upon your entrance — keeping watch over the town’s comings and goings. Sadly, we struggled to find out much information about this attraction. Construction on this facility began in 2015 and for some reason was abandoned thereafter. Original plans for it included descriptions of cafes, gardens, rentable facilities, and car parking areas. Unfortunately, while the structure itself is beautiful and intact, the other plans did not come to fruition.

The roads leading up the mountain to the castle are frequented by large semi-trucks carrying loads from the quarry above. What was once the turn-off into the castle is now a large mound of tile and garbage debris. We parked on the main road and climbed our way to the castle entrance.

While it may not be one of Orhangazi’s main official attractions, we tremendously enjoyed the bird’s eye view of the surrounding city and countryside. If you’re looking for a photo-worthy scene off the beaten path, this is an adventurous option.
